Marike Wasserman claimed two trophies for her performance in the girls’ u/12, 75m hurdles at the AON Friendly Athletics Meeting hosted by Laerskool Nelspruit on Saturday. She was also the senior victrix ludorum.

The Nellie crossed the finish line in a record time of 12.19 seconds and was crowned the best girl hurdles athlete and the win best ASA table (884) achievement for a girl athlete prize.

Brother, Johnny Wasserman, was also in fine form, winning the boys’ u/10 70m hurdles in a record time of 12.27. This feat earned him the best boy hurdles athlete trophy and the trophy for the best achievement on the ASA table (861) for boys.

Joël Akum of Nelspruit Primary won the trophy for the best junior boy sprinter. He won the boys’ u/8 60m race. He was also the junior victor ludorum.
