Awesome kumite and kata at friendly tournament

The karatekas were thrilled to be back in competition.

A friendly Interprovincial Shotokan Karate Championship was held at the Shonalonga Sports Hall on Saturday May 21.

Dojos from Burgersfort, Lydenburg, Hazyview, White River and Mbombela competed against dojos from Gauteng, which included Benoni, Boksburg and Kempton Park.

“Neither the cold, rain or the two-hour load-shedding could stop the heated kumites and brilliant katas. The karatekas were glad to compete again after the Covid-19 period,” said Sensei Piet Venter of Shotokan Lowveld.

He also added a huge thank you to ER24 for providing medical assistance.
