Hoërskool Lydenburg cyclists excel
The third edition in the Mpumalanga XCO mountain-biking series took place at Eagle View Play Park in Mbombela on Saturday May 28.
Despite the route’s reputation for being technical, there was a great turnout of a few hundred riders from various schools. It consisted of different laps (with various distances) for the different age groups.

By the time the races had started, the course was a perfect mix of tacky and dry. The results for the mountain bikers from Hoërskool Lydenburg: Sub-junior girls: Syboné Hanekom (fourth), Elandri Hietbrink (sixth) Sub-junior boys: Reuel McCabe (ninth) Youth boys: Jan-Hendrik Hietbrink (ninth), Juandré Pretorius (10th) Junior female: Jolize Botha (first) Junior male: Jonathan McCabe (fifth), Gift Phakathi (ninth) and Sechaba Komane (10th).
