Lowvelder Golf Challenge all set for part seven
This year's Lowvelder Golf Challenge has been a tight battle at the top of the leader board.
The seventh and third-last Lowvelder Golf Challenge for the year is set to be held at Mbombela Golf Club on September 17.
September’s Lowvelder Golf Challenge is being held a little earlier than usual for the monthly golf day, and with Octopi Smart Solutions and Du Toit-Smuts & Partners Attorneys on board it will undoubtedly be a marked success once again.
Participation in each Lowvelder Golf Challenge has been good on every day so far this year, and golfers have been battling hard to earn this year’s bragging rights.
After the first round the lead belonged to Attie van Wyk, where after Robin Paige won round two. Round three went the way of Mary-Ann Braithwaite and the fourth round win was taken by Eugene Neumeyer. Le Roux de Beer carded 43 points in the fifth round – the joint-most for a single round in this year’s Lowvelder Golf Challenge – to take the fifth win of 2025. The sixth round was won by Leon de Kock with 42 points to his name.

Despite not winning either the fifth or sixth rounds, overall leader Rian Joubert has consistently managed to do enough to maintain his advantage, now one point ahead of second-placed Corrie van Niekerk.
The competition is played in an individual Stableford format. To contend for the title, the players must compete in at least five out of the nine competition days, as their five best scores will count towards the overall standings after the grand final, which will be hosted on November 20.
The next 2025 Lowvelder Golf Challenge will be held on September 17. Players are responsible for booking their own rounds and carts by contacting the club on 013 744 0952.
Eligibility for prizes requires attending the prize-giving ceremony. Participants must be affiliated with a club and hold an official handicap.
