Cricketers off to IPT
The various action-cricket teams that will represent the Lowveld at the Junior Interprovincial tournament in KwaZulu-Natal, were announced during a capping ceremony on Saturday.
Three teams, u/10, u/12 and u/14, traveled to Pietermaritzburg.
Sixty-nine teams from all over South Africa have entered the tournament to fight for glory.
Last year the teams excelled with the u/13s narrowly losing in the bronze finals and the u/14s returned with the plate trophy.
The tournament also serves as a selection for the South African teams that will represent the Junior World Cup in 2018 in Dubai.
“We have about nine potential players who can make the South African team. The teams are well prepared and full of excitement for the games that will be played. We would like to wish the teams all the best and will be holding thumbs for all the teams to do their best and all players to play their best for selection for the national team,” said head coach, Eric Grimaldi.
