Sandiso will leave a sport legacy at Primary
For the second consecutive year, Nelspruit Primary's Genius Bhila has been named as cross-country athlete of the year. Over and above his versatility in sport, his sportsmanship spirit is what made him stand out.
Genius has also been awarded the boy’s sportsmanship trophy. He participated in athletics and cross-country. Earlier this year he represented his school at the interprimary, where he was in action in the 1 500-metres event.
Andile Nkosi was presented with the girl’s sportsmanship trophy.
She also participated in athletics at interprimary, where she took part in high jump, 100 and 200 metres and the relay event. She also played tennis, netball and chess.
“She is a fierce competitor, but never showed anger towards her teammates or opponents. She was always friendly and positive; she motivated and encouraged her fellow players.”
Best girl all-rounder, Sandiso Madonsela not only excelled in sport, but also achieved an average of above 80 per cent in all her subjects, which shows the result of her hard work in the class. She was among the top-10 students throughout the year, and has 51 merits for 2017.
She participated in netball and played for the schools’ second team. Her positive attitude was infectious and served as inspiration to her fellow team members.
Sandiso was a member of the grade 7 choral verse group, which achieved a prestige award (A++) in the eisteddfod.
“This bright pupil performed her prefect duties diligently. She was always of great assistance at school functions. She is a well-balanced girl who is self-driven and strives to always give her best in everything she participates in,” said Viljoen.
