Event delivers on master showjumping

The second annual Lowveld Showjumping Challenge took place on the outskirts of White River this weekend.

According to Loura van den Heever, the event organiser, it was also the third leg of the Masters Series in which the top course designers from South Africa are brought to the Lowveld to test riders’ skills to the utmost.

“It took place at Nottinghill Equestrian Estate and it was once again a resounding success, incorporating serious showjumping as well as fun classes such as a fancy dress jumping competition and a power jump,” said Van den Heever.

Certainly the highlight of the show was an astounding round by Hanelize Kamffer on Shadow Fly who cleared an enormous 1,60-metre joker jump in the open accumulator.

The challenge trophy for higher grades was won by Natasha White on Only You, with runners-up being Hanelize and Liz-Marie Crous on Brandenburg Special Assignment.

The lower-grade trophy was snatched by John Middlemiss, with Francois Combrinck and Danielle Groenewald hot on his heels.

The lower-grade power jump was shared by Kyra White on Comical Guy and Danielle on Sunset, who both cleared 1,30 metres. The higher-grade power jump was won by Hanelize at 1,40 metres.
