Highveld golfers dominate in open
Jarryd Elliot of Bakenveld Golf Estate, tore up the second 18 holes at White River Country Club (WRCC) to rally from several strokes back and win the junior open title on Sunday.
He completed the 36 holes in the Gross A division with 146. Middelburg Country Club’s Daniel Gerrit took home the all-day Nett A division trophy with a total of 144 (par).
Mbombela Gold Club’s Antoni Theron, who over the first round played 11 over par and on the last 18 holes totalled 84, placed first in the B division. Antoni did the best of the local players which participated in the open.
Playing off a 16 handicap, Brendan van den Heever, also from Middelburg, came out tops in the all-day Nett B division with a total score of 142 – two under par.
