U/13 Pumas fall to Valke

The Valke made better use of their opportunities

The u/13 Phakisa Pumas lost their final match of the 2019 Craven Week to the Valke  at White River Primary’s A field this morning.

The home team started both halves well but conceded too much possession and lost the match 22-12.

Pumas centre Anele Ngwenya sprinted down the right touch line , chip kicked and collected to dot down the first try of the match for a 5-0 lead.

The Valke hit back with a tries from locks, Marcel Coetzee and Sibusiso Mahlanga. Centre, Jean-dre Claassen converted one for a 12-5 lead.

Coetzee sprinted down the left touch line to score his second to give the Valke a 17-5 half time lead.

The Pumas started out well in the second half, retaining possession and running the ball. Centre Wanga Ndou scored a try and Theunis Meyer converted to take the Pumas to within ten points of the Valke.

Then the home team started kicking away possession and it cost them when the Vake’s number 8 Vaughn Gous scored the final try of the match.

The Valke were deserved winners. They used their opportunities well.

The Pumas gave away possession and made too many unforced errors.
