Young Barberton sprinter sets Interprimary record

Barberton Primary's athletes made the school proud at the annual meet.

Barberton Primary School’s Skye Moyane set a new Goldwagen Interprimary record in the girls U8 80m at the annual meet at Hoërskool Nelspruit on Saturday.

She was in a class of her own, winning the gold medal in 12.53 seconds. The 22-year-old (2002) record stood at 12.70 seconds.

Skye came infinitesimally close to winning another individual gold in the 60m, being pipped to the post by 1/100ths of a second by Laerskool Nelspruit’s Mika Swart, who won in 09.80 seconds.

McCleandon Yeboah won the gold medal in the boys U11 80m in 11.34 seconds.

Asande Molaka claimed gold in the girls U11 shot put with an effort of 8.39m.
