Lowveld boxers punch their way to silver medals

The two young boxers excelled at the national champs and have a bright future in the sport.

Dwayn Viljoen of Scorpion Boxing Academy (Mbombela) and Arion Fraser of Highlands Boxing Club (Graskop) both won silver medals at the recent South African National Boxing Championships in Tzaneen.

Under the guidance of coaches Lance Gibson and Tobie Viljoen, the Ehlanzeni District boxers represented the Mpumalanga team, showcasing their skills against top boxers from all nine provinces.

Dwayn made an impressive debut in the cadet category at the championships, securing a silver medal in his very first appearance.

Arion stepped up to the junior category in which he continued to shine. He successfully navigated two tough bouts to make it to the final, ultimately claiming the silver medal.

“We are looking forward to seeing what the future holds for these talented young athletes,” said Gibson and Viljoen.
