Nottinghill groom wins SA showjumping title

Themba Mhlongo is the SA 90cm champ.

Themba Mhlongo won the 90cm SA Championship Class at the SA Showjumping Championships. The championships were held at the Shongweni Equestrian Club in KZN from August 6 to 10.

Mhlongo is the head groom and stable manager at Nottinghill Equestrian Estate outside White River. He has been riding competitively for four years under the coaching of Fling and Kraai Kamffer, owners of Nottinghill.

Mhlongo was selected for the Mpumalanga Interprovincial 90cm Showjumping Team to compete in the

SA Championships team event.

He competed in three classes in the 90cm competition and obtained an eighth, fifth and first place out of 63 riders.

Winning the 90cm SA Championship Class makes him the SA champion in that category.

The Mpumalanga team combined with the Eastern Cape team to win the interprovincial team competition out of four teams in the 90cm class.
