The gees was electric on the course throughout the day.

Players, sponsors and good friends once again ensured that the Du Toit-Smuts & Partners Attorneys and Lowvelder Charity Golf Day was a roaring success. The 23rd edition of this much-anticipated event took place at Mbombela Golf Club on Friday, October 10.

The vibe was electric from early on as sponsors set up camp around the course. The first four balls teed off from the first and 10th tees at 10:00 and boosted the already festive atmosphere.

It was a day of business leaders, organisations and golfers networking, building relationships and enjoying the camaraderie on the course. But there was an even more important aspect. The funds raised would benefit Laeveldrus, the Dasha Foundation and Huis Betlehem – three local organisations providing essential services in disability support, child welfare and shelter care. Every swing and sponsorship contributed directly to these causes.

It was a long but thoroughly enjoyable and rewarding day. The last four balls came off the course with the sun hovering over the horizon. The festivities, however, were far from finished.

The evening function was sponsored by Standard Bank. The veranda at the clubhouse was packed with golfers, sponsors and their families and friends. They enjoyed the prize-giving and entertainment by Pieter Rischmüller. The laughter and banter lasted late into the night.

“Du Toit-Smuts & Partners Attorneys and Lowvelder would like to take a moment to thank everyone who joined us in making our day such a great success, either by contributing towards our event or simply being at Mbombela Golf Club to enjoy the day out on the greens. A warm thank you to all the players and sponsors who contributed towards our annual charity fundraiser, which has been very close to our hearts for the past 23 years,” said Schalk Rheeder, partner at Du Toit-Smuts & Partners Attorneys.

“With all the combined efforts we raised R150 000 which is a great accomplishment and blessing. Without each and every one it would not have been possible for us to raise the many needed funding for our beneficiaries, Laeveldrus, Dasha and Huis Betlehem.

“Thank you again and see you at Mbombela Golf Club next year.”

The format for this year’s golf day was a better ball, two-ball alliance, scramble drive, two scores to count; offering up a strategic, fun and engaging round for players of all skill levels. Dandré and Eugene Neumeyer took first place with 97 points.
