IN PHOTOS: Penultimate 2025 Lowvelder Golf Challenge shakes up leader board

The final round of the challenge is set up to be a humdinger.

There have been some changes to the leader board of the 2025 Lowvelder Golf Challenge after the eighth round played at Mbombela Golf Club on Wednesday, October 22.

This sets up a thrilling scenario for the final round, with the grand prize of a years’ free membership to Mbombela Golf Club on the line.

Riaan Joubert retained the top spot.

The biggest mover was Leon Wait who climbed from ninth to second.

Corrie van Niekerk dropped from second to third, and Mary-Ann Braithwaite from third to fourth.

Jakes Potgieter was the winner of the eighth leg on 41 points and this moved him up into the top 10.

Danie Stassen was second on 38 (count out) and Johan Ferreira third.

The 2025 champion will be decided at the ninth leg of the Lowvelder Golf Challenge on November 26.

On each day the competition is played in an individual Stableford format. To contend for the title, the players must compete in at least five out of the nine competition days, as their five best scores will count towards the overall standings after the grand final.

Players are responsible for booking their own rounds and carts by contacting the club on 013 744 0952.

Eligibility for prizes requires attending the prize-giving ceremony. Participants must be affiliated with a club and hold an official handicap.
