Damien Kühn to take on 24-hour run
The internationally acclaimed ultra-athlete invites you to join him.
Well-known Lowveld ultra-athlete Damien Kühn will be will tackle a 24-hour run from tomorrow, Friday, January 16, to Saturday, January 17. When he is too tired to run he will walk, but he will be moving for the entire 24 hours.
As for the persistent rain, the event will continue come hell or high water. “My saying on the trails is always ‘come rain or hail, we trail’, so I’ll be there, rain or not,” said Kühn.
He invites all walkers, runners and those who just want to enjoy the gees of the event to join him. Run the Block start at 16:00 on Friday at Platō Coffee in Ferreira Street, Mbombela, and follows a 1km loop that will include Emkhe Street.

“Anyone is welcome to join me for a run or walk. You can decide the distance or time you want to do. A R120 entry fee, payable at Platō from 15:00 on Friday, is valid for the full 24 hours,” Kühn said.
It is planned to be a fun event, and how slow or fast one runs or walk is not important. No doubt there will be a few brave souls who will attempt to outpace Kühn, be it only for five laps.
The programme is as follows:
Friday, January 16
• 16:00: Start
• 18:00: Chase the local legend (u19)
• 18:30: Chase the local legend (adults)
• 19:00: Neon night run.
Saturday, January 17
• 03:00: Coffee competition run and lucky draw
• 07:00: Dog run (dogs must be leashed)
• 08:00: Family run
• 11:00: Brunch run
• 15:30: Final showdown.
