3 athletes represent Lowveld with pride at Glasgow Commonwealth Games

Ashley Erasmus, Collen Mahlalela and Ryan Williams all delivered top-10 performances against world-class opposition in Scotland.

There were no medals for the three Lowvelders competing in the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, Scotland, but they represented their countries with pride.

Ashley Erasmus placed 10th in the shot put with a best effort of 14.83m on July 29. The distance was way off her personal best of 18.30m set in May.

The Laerskool and Hoërskool Nelspruit alumnus achieved the 14.83m on her first attempt and could not improve on it.

Top-10 finishes on the track and field

In the men’s T47 100m final on July 29, Collen Mahlalela achieved a season’s best of 11.31 seconds, which gave him sixth place.
