IN PHOTOS: Golfers gather at Mbombela Golf Club for 5th annual Mother Trucker Golf Day
Proceeds from the charity tournament will assist We Care 4 Nelspruit in repairing essential equipment to clean and maintain the city.
Golfers packed Mbombela Golf Club on September 17 for the fifth annual PMG Produkta Motor Group Mother Trucker Golf Day in support of We Care 4 Nelspruit.
The main aim of the day was to raise funds, but the event was also undoubtedly one of the best and most memorable golf days of the year.
From early in the morning, the clubhouse and course were a mass of gees and camaraderie.
The mass of participants ensured that not long after tee-off, the course became a festive hive of friendship, fun and laughter from the first tee to the 18th green.
Organisers express gratitude
“The purpose of the day was to raise money for We Care 4 Nelspruit. They do exactly what they say, they care for and look after Nelspruit. They were also the beneficiary in 2025,” said the organisers.
“We’ve raised a substantial amount but we can’t confirm the exact amount yet. Thank you to the PMG Produkta Motor Group Mother Trucker Golf Day committee, Mbombela Golf Club and the staff involved.
“We would also like to thank all the sponsors and players who made this day absolutely awesome.”
It was a long yet unforgettable day for the players and others involved. The players were kept entertained by the various tee sponsors. When the field did back up, no one minded and all continued to enjoy the day.
Crucial boost for city maintenance
Pastor TJ Maré of We Care 4 Nelspruit expressed extreme gratitude for the funds raised and emphasised his appreciation of being the beneficiary of one of the biggest golf days of the year.
“We Care 4 Nelspruit is very thankful and appreciates every donor, sponsor and the organisers of the PMG Produkta Motor Group Mother Trucker Golf Day. Because of such friends we can continue the work we do. It is actually Nelspruit that benefits because We Care 4 Nelspruit’s main objective is to better Nelspruit,” said Maré.
“We have a lot of expenses. One is our big tractor that broke down six months ago. It needs a new gearbox. With some of the funds raised we can have the tractor repaired and get it back to doing important work.
“This contribution helps us to change the city, to bring about what the city should be like.”
The competition was an American scramble betterball (70% allowance; two handicaps/2).The winners were Lian Lombaard and Matt Maytham on 51 points.
