The month kicked off with a bang when a shootout occurred between robbers and security guards. Young Thriston Lawrence makes golfing history and a trip to Mafunyane water park end badly for a local woman.

• March 1: A scene from a Wild Wild West movie played itself out on the R38, between Badplaas and Carolina. A security guard was shot dead by CIT robbers and a second critically wounded.
• March 5: Mpumalanga teenage golfing sensation, Thriston Lawrence, became the youngest player to lift the Sanlam South African Amateur Championship Cup since its inception in 1906.
• March 8: Patients join in as Themba Hospital staff staged a protest at the hospital gate, demanding that the ongoing water crisis be resolved immediately. There was no sign of the department attempting to fix the problem. Some even said that Themba is hell, not a hospital.
• March 12: A ferocious storm hit the city of Nelspruit, and could possibly be described as a tornado. A photo was taken outside Vision 2000 of a destructive funnel.
• March 15: Mr Lassy Chiwayo did not respond well on allegations that he “regularly walked naked” through the streets of Shanghai and also assaulted the South African Ambassador in China. Chiwayo said that it never happened, and threatened to file a legal suite against the publication.
• March 19: National Water Week kicked off, with residents who are fed up with their lack of clean water, staging a protest on the N4.
• Lowvelder Journalist Landé Willemse won the coveted Caxton Journalist of the Year award for the second time.
• March 22: Alleged rhino kingpin Joe Nyalangau (Big Joe) was dealt in another huge blow when the North Gauteng High Court granted an order to National Prosecuting Authority(NPA) Asset Forfeiture Unit (AFU) to seize R5,8 million in cash belonging to him.
• 26 Maart: Gemeenskap help boere om hulle besitting onderhaas van dié landgoed te verwyder. Dit het gevolg nadat mnr. Douw Hurter deur die hof verplig is om al sy eiendom vanaf Domar Boerdery te verwyder.
• March 29: Barely a month after Mafunyane Water Park opened, Rika Steyn has been seriously injured after going down one of the slides. Shortly after this, a huge party was cancelled. However, spokesmen would not confirm that it had anything to do with the incident.
