Aces out for Chiefs blood

Mpumalanga Black Aces will kick-start their 2014/15 Premier Soccer League campaign against Kaizer Chiefs when they meet in the MTN 8 competition on Sunday.

This killer clash will take place at the FNB Stadium at 15:00.

Just like the previous season’s campaign, these two teams played their opening game against each other at the Mbombela Stadium where the Soweto giants were victorious, but were later to be embarrassed by the home team during a return leg at the FNB Stadium.

Dubbed the battle of Mpumalanga and Gauteng provinces, these two giants will meet for the first time in a cup competition match since Aces were promoted to the PSL last season and soccer fanatics can expect nothing but fireworks.

“This is going to be an entertaining game for sure. You know we embarrassed Chiefs in their own backyard the last time we met and they are sure looking for revenge, but I can promise you, it’s not going to be easy.

“We want this more than they do and we are going for the kill,” said Aces’ spokesman, Gordon Masondo.

Chiefs will surely be coming to this game with a point to prove after losing the Soweto derby against Orlando Pirates this past weekend.

Aces, who went on a shopping spree, will certainly prove to be a hard nut to crack and this clash against Chiefs will tell whether the team are ready or not.

The home team have just welcomed the Bidvest Wits duo Miguel Timm and Bhongolethu Jayiya who have both signed three-year contracts and are expected to play a huge role in the team.

Aces have also signed former Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates striker, Collins Mbesuma and will join the striking force of Mabhudi Khenyeza, Tendai Ndoro and Thulasizwe Mbuyane.

“Our coach Clive Barker has a definite plan and a style of play he wants Aces to play this season and all these players that have just joined us will certainly bring the desired results.

This clash will certainly give us a clear indication of what we need to do next,” said Masondo.

After this game, Aces will then travel to Bloemfontein where they will open their league campaign against the stubborn Celtics onAugust 10 and three days later, on August 13, they host Kaizer Chiefs at the Mbombela Stadium at 19:30.
