Riders show their prowess in enduro
It was the final of the Time Freight Super Enduro series and although this series did not produce and overall champion, some of the regulars were intent on proving their prowess.

October 11 started out being cool and overcast and the wetness on the track at Rebel Raceway just outside Barberton, was sure to offer some serious initial challenges, which it did with many riders slipping and sliding on the first couple of obstacles at the other side of the starting gate. Fortunately the drizzle stopped and after the practice runs, only the inexperienced riders seemed to struggle with the latter.
It was the final of the Time Freight Super Enduro series and although this series did not produce and overall champion, some of the regulars were intent on proving their prowess.
The series did have top national riders in attendance, but they did not compete in all three events and as a result failed to produce a champion. However the performance and skill they displayed, did again and again demanded one’s respect. This track is extremely demanding.
The Lowveld Enduro Club which was formed in 2014 hosted five Enduro and three Super Enduro events throughout the year and every single event got the thumbs up from all riders, many from other parts of the country. “The Enduro Club became a ‘community project’ as a result of so many people pitching in to help and prepare tracks,” said club secretary Tarryn le Roux. All the events were spectator-friendly and well supported.
This, the final event for the local season, introduced a very determined Louwrens Mahoney and Denzil Lawrie, both dominating their respective classes on the day. Not without equally serious intentions from riders like Dwayne Kleynhans, Altus de Wet (Pro’s) and Greg Hodgskins in the intermediate class. Ethan Young dominated the green/beginners class with Douglas Sutton and Luke Walker in close attendance. Shaun Kirk was followed home by Otto Horlacher in the vets/ladies class.
Lunchtime saw a very busy kiddies track/event with some serious developing skills on display and yes, also some off’s but then, the latter will not be the first or the last on their various paths to Enduro fame.
