With an average of three murders per day, it’s no wonder San Pedro Sula topped the charts for the second year in a row.

2. Acapulco, Mexico

This was once a popular tourist destination. Lately, however, due to large amounts of drug cartels, dead bodies in the streets are a common occurrence in this town.

3. Caracas, Venezuala

Armed robberies and street fights are rife in Venzuela’s capital. The city also battles drug cartels and severe friction between classes. Visitors are advised not to visit this city alone.

4. Distrito Central, Honduras

Beneath the façade of this beautiful tropical paradise lurks a corrupted government and extreme poverty. The Mafia also has a strong presence here, repelling tourists.

5. Torreón, Mexico

Although drug cartels are not prevalent in this Mexican city, it still boasts one of the highest murder rates in the world with 87 murders per 100 000 residents.
