Start the new year in style with Tivoli

SsangYong’s contender in the growing B-segment crossover market will be called Tivoli, which is the name of a city near Rome that is renowned for style.

The announcement of the name was made recently by the CEO of the SsangYong Motor Company, Yoo Il Lee.

The Tivoli has been under development for the past three years and is derived from the concept shown as the X100 at several motor shows. It will be the smallest and least expensive vehicle from the Korean company which is now owned by Mahindra Automotive, part of the Mumbai-based international conglomerate Mahindra & Mahindra.

The small crossover was showcased in near-production form at the Paris Motor Show in September as the XIV-Air and XIV-Adventure.
Now photographs of the actual production version have been released, both exterior and interior views.

The exterior features show the Tivoli to have dynamic styling with a modern silhouette and it embraces the rhythmical motion of SsangYong’s current design language.
The interior is stylish with a contemporary look and offers the driver and passengers easy connectivity to their IT devices. It is also practical with lots of storage space.

The Tivoli is expected to be powered by 1.6-litre petrol and diesel engines.

“Mahindra South Africa and its dealers are looking forward to the arrival of the Tivoli next year as it will immediately launch us into a major growth sector of the local market with a well-equipped modern vehicle that will be priced competitively,” commented the CEO of Mahindra SA, Ashok Thakur.
