The accused in this public violence trial will return to court on February 27.

MBOMBELA – A public-violence case against three residents of Zwelisha Ward B was postponed on Friday. They will return to court in six weeks.

Ms Celiwe Nkambule, Mr Innocent Nkosi and Ms Nthomifuthi Khoza were set to appear in court on Friday. The accused were charged with committing public violence after it was alleged that they had ransacked the home of ANC ward councillor Elizabeth Maziya in 2012.

The group of accused consisted of 11 members until Friday, October 17, 2014. On that day, eight were acquitted in terms of Section 174 of the Criminal Procedure Act.

The trial against the three accused was set to resume on Friday, but the case had been postponed to February 27 as their attorney was unable to attend. Mr Lucky Mngomezulu, the attorney, confirmed that his absence was due to family responsibilities.
