Court update – 112 pieces of rhino horn stolen from the MTPA in 2014
The four accused were arrested on June 6, June 7, June 23 and July 2 last year. They appeared in the Nelspruit Regional Court again on Friday.
MBOMBELA – The finalisation of instructions to their legal representatives motivated the postponement in the case against four men who stand accused of stealing rhino horns from the Mpumalanga Tourism and Parks Agency (MTPA).
Messrs Gideon Mtshali (51), Sizwe Leonard Malatjie (34), Selby Khoza (39) and Velly William Zwane appeared before magistrate Ms Venessa Joubert in the Nelspruit Regional Court on Friday.
They were arrested in 2014 after 112 rhino horns had been stolen from a safe at the MTPA offices in April 2014.
Mtshali and Malatjie were arrested on June 6 and 7, while Khoza was arrested on June 23 in Tshwane. Zwane handed himself over to the police on July 2.
The four were granted bail of R20 000 each on August 22, 2014. Their bail had been extended until March 11, when the case would resume.
