Classical music makes you smarter – here’s why

A calm brain is a more productive brain. Use classical music to unlock your brain's potential.

Classical music can help you study as it assists in relaxing the mind.  The UNC Charlotte and University City website assists students with articles on various topics that are relevant to college students.  According to this website, a relaxed mind is able to concentrate much better than a preoccupied mind.  “Studies have shown that the right kind of music cuts down on distractions and helps you focus on your work,” an article titled Music can help you study states.

Baroque music, which many of Mozart’s compositions are part of, is said to induce a short-term inprovement on the performance of certain kinds of mental tasks known as “spatial-temporal reasoning,” which is the ability to think out long-term, more abstract solutions to logical problems.

This is the “switch” that needs to be activated before any productive studying can be done.  Your brain needs to calm down in the first place.  Calming down is the key to successful studying and classical music makes this a lot easier.
