Locals share their love of classic bikes

The Classic Motorcycle Interest Group (CMG) had its first ride for 2015 which started from the garage at Halls to Aloes Lodge near Waterval Onder with 10 motorcycles participating with brands such as BSA and Ducati.

The CMG is made up of enthusiasts who enjoy riding, maintaining and rebuilding classic bikes which are predominantly pre-1990. The group is not affiliated to any club and have been meeting for a couple of years.
Activities, apart from regular riding, include a monthly informal social or DVD evening focused on various topics related to classic and vintage motorcycles. The people who attend own bikes dating from
1911 to 1990.

Other annual events are the 1000 Bike Show in Germiston, where some members of CMG have won in classes such as best classic and best vintage motorcycle, classic motorcycle rallies and runs throughout the country. There is a major renewed interest in the collection of different brands of classic motorcycles from 1970 to 1990.

To all that have an interest in classic and vintage motorcycles or would want to sell a classic motorcycle to another enthusiast are welcome to contact Fred Viljoen at freddie.viljoen@unilever.com or on 082-336-5590.
