Your one number plate gets removed wherever you park and the people who stole it, then waits for the driver and follows him or her. In a quiet area, they overtake you

and display your number plate out their window as if they had picked it up and wanted to return it.

Once you stop, guns come out and the unsuspecting driver is robbed of his vehicle.

Other road users  will also simply think that nothing is afoot as you have stopped out of your own accord and got out of your car.
