Driver training comes free of charge with every Tata truck sold
The training covers, among other elements, defensive and economic driving techniques. Silvi Pro, a contractor to Sappi, has found this training to be immensely effective as it lowers maintenance costs and improves the productivity of its drivers.
“We have found that this training also results in less warranty claims,” says Thinus Nel of DC Mobile in Rocky Drift. Electronic systems installed in every truck allow management to evaluate driver performance regularly and of course, implement remedial training immediately, if required.
Silvi Pro uses Tata 813 vehicles fitted with labour carriers, designed and built by Tailor-Made. The latter comes with a four-point seatbelt for every passenger – a higher spec than the legal requirement.
