MALALANE – The murder case of local businesswoman, Ms Martie Kruger, which hit the front pages last year after she had allegedly shot her husband, will finally be heard in court on June 9. It had formerly been reported that the hearing would have taken place in the Malalane Periodic Court. However, the case will be heard by the Nelspruit travelling regional court in Barberton. Kruger, who is in her forties, allegedly murdered her husband, Hennie, a well-known businessman in Malalane, after an argument in May last year. At the time it was reported in the media that the couple had an argument before she allegedly shot him in their home. She had been out on bail of R5 000, which was granted in the Barberton Magistrate’s Court and currently lived at a friend’s house in Malalane. The main witness from Marloth Park Ms Danienne Fritz, a long-time friend and colleague of Kruger, will testify about the day of the shooting as she was the first person on the scene. It had also been alleged that the late Mr Kruger had an affair with a woman from Hazyview, who was featured in national media as having had a close friendship with the deceased. However, this was still mere speculation. It was expected that the case would be postponed after the murder accused had appeared in court on June 9. Corridor Gazette spoke to the communications officer at Malalane SAPS, Mr Bheki Nkosi, who said the investigation had been completed and the dossier had been handed to the National Prosecuting Authority.
