Success built on confidence in motion

Subaru Nelspruit is about to celebrate its first anniversary. The establishment of the dealership is the result of a collective dream and persistent effort of four people: Annatjie, Joos and Danie Stassen and Jaco Vorster.

They have, in the past and to this day, represented the needs of many a dedicated Subaru owner in the Lowveld who have in previous years had to cope with limited representation of the brand in the Lowveld. “Our, and for many, surprising success during the first year since opening, has also been built on the total dedication and reputation that Joos has developed by servicing and repairing Subarus long before we became an accredited dealership. Our success in local and national rallies since 2005, with a Subaru has also contributed to ultimately establishing the dealership and the popularity of the brand,” says Danie.

This is essentially a family business with every single employee being totally dedicated to and passionate about the brand – driving it, living it and speaking Subaru of course. “We started racing with a Subaru which we bought from Nicholas Ryan, are still racing with it, and will continue to do so because even after 70 000 racing kilometres, this car has no intention of retiring. So us Stassens have no choice but to submit to the itch… yeah, you know that itch!

“Of course we had to take some time off to focus on the business, because we are the business. We are responsible for making it happen and building the foundation,” says Jaco. Danie adds, “We would not have been able to do this without an amazing Subaru support base including customers, enthusiasts and many a prospective customer, the banks and Subaru South Africa who has allowed us to deliver and repair Subarus with their blessing even before the establishment of the dealership.

There was a long Subaru drought in the Lowveld because although customers could service their vehicles with AutoTec, no new models were introduced to potential buyers and many Subaru owners. Now however, new Subaru technology and designs, still equipped with the trusted symmetrical all-wheel drive systems and Boxer engine, that unique exhaust note and superb roadholding has found its way to Mbombela with the result that Subaru Nelspruit’s sales numbers during the first year of operation were one per cent higher than that of the national average for Subaru. Yes, believe the unbelievable!

How do they do it? “We keep our customers close to us. We engage with them. They are the reason why we are Subaru Nelspruit. We deliver cars which behave immaculately – no comebacks, no regrets. Word of mouth and superb service is our marketing manager.” On September 26 Klipkoppie Dam will be a hive of Subaru activity when Subaru Nelspruit and a collection of other adventure companies and suppliers, including the South African Sport Hall of Fame and Outdoor Warehouse to name but a few, will present you with a full range of everything Subaru, family and adventure.

Hall of Fame celebs like Derick Hougaard and others will be in attendance which of course means, if you miss it, you will regret it for a long time. Be at Klipkoppie on September 26. “Persistence and perseverance creates success and our success is built on confidence in motion, otherwise called Subaru,” concluded the Subaru team.
