We celebrate our women in blue
It was the second time the Red Carpet Women in Blue Mega Fest was held to appreciate the contribution females make to society.
MBOMBELA – The women in blue swapped their uniforms for glamorous attire to celebrate Women’s Day at St Marks School on Friday.
It was the second time the Red Carpet Women in Blue Mega Fest was held to appreciate the contribution females make to society. This year’s event coincided with the 60th anniversary of the 1956 women’s march against the pass laws.
Women from across the province gathered under the theme “Moving Women Forward”. Local businessman Mr Robert Gumede announced that he would sponsor the event for at least another two years.

The organiser Maj Gen Cynthia Phillison roped in various motivational speakers to encourage these protectors, some even came from other provinces to bless the auspicious gathering.
They discussed topics such as “Appreciating the Gift I Have”, “Stop Competing,” “Forgiving Myself For Past Mistakes” and the “Great Women in the Bible.”
The deputy national commissioner for the SAPS, Ms Christine Mgwenya, provincial commissioner Mr Mondli Zuma and the provincial chairman of the CPF board, Mr Kevin Pillay attended.

The new MEC for community safety, security and liaison, Mr Pat Ngomane also showed his support, as did the head of the department, Mr William Mthombothi. Ngomane said it was extremely important to appreciate women.
“We all come from them and from time to time we must shower them with love,” he said.
