MASHISHING – The Mpumalanga Department of Culture, Sports and Recreation recently held its 13th annual district indigenous games at Mashakeng Stadium l.
This saw Mbombela, Bushbuckridge, Nkomazi and
Thaba Chweu Local municipalities take part in the nine sporting codes: morabaraba, dibeke, kgati, diketo, injuba, jukskei, khokho, driestokies and ntonga.
The aim of the event was to select a team to represent the district at the provincial play-offs on July 14 to 16 in Mbombela. Thereafter, a team would be selected to represent the province at the national games in Polokwane in September.
The first presentation of the games was hosted in Limpopo in 2003. Last year the provincial games was held in Badplaas, and hosted by Gert Sibande District Municipality.
