Stars topple Mpumalanga ABC Motsepe League log leaders United

Barberton City Stars moved to the top of the Mpumalanga ABC Motsepe League when they beat Lumoja FC 3-1 at the Barberton Prison Sports Ground on Wednesday.

Their move to the summit came after log leaders prior to Wednesday’s encounters, Acornbush United, surprisingly lost 1-2 to FC Zone Mavo at Secunda Lillian Ngoyi Stadium.

Ingucungucu, as the Barberton based side are affectionately known in football circles, are now leading the provincial league with 27 points after 12 matches.

United are second with 26 points after the same number of games.

This coming Saturday, Stars will visit FC Zone Mavo at the same venue where they beat United. Kick-off is at 15:00.

United will host FC Benfica at KaBokweni Stadium on Sunday. Kick-off is at 15:00.
