The clean-up initiative #heart2clean
In their quest to make a difference, Stabilis, BUCO, Sanibonani, Rooikat, Innibos and Lowvelder joined hands in a clean-up initiative.

This project allows community members to participate by taking waste from their homes or offices to the giant metal heart at Crossing Centre, which was constructed especially for gathering plastic waste.

It was started on July 18 as a Mandela Day Plastic Clean-up initiative called #heart2clean, although the collection of waste did not end on the day. The public is still welcome to participate.
Anita McGarry, centre manager at Crossing Centre said they were thrilled to be part of the initiative.
“By the end of this year we are going to have implemented a full recycling station for the public to use as well as introduce a recycling process for our tenants,” she said.

Jack Magongo, an independent environmentalist is cooperating with a group of 12 women based in Pienaar outside Mbombela.
They collect waste and sort it from the heart. This project keeps the city clean, and creates work for the group.
