The South African Reserve Bank (SARB) in town for outreach programme

The South African Reserve Bank (SARB) will be in Mbombela on February 8 as part of a stakeholder and outreach programme targeted at pure mathematics and economics learners and educators.  

The programme is scheduled to start at 08:00 and end at 16:00, with educational content shared in respective sessions with learners and educators. The sessions will be held at the Emnotweni Casino, ‘The Arena’, Government Boulevard, Riverside Park.

These briefing sessions will be facilitated by SARB economists, some who are past beneficiaries of the MPC Schools Challenge, and were awarded bursaries from the SARB as well as employment and mentorship opportunities.

There are many exciting prizes to be won by participating in this competition. Last year’s winning team received:

  • R12 000 per learner (a total of R48 000 for the team);
  • A laptop for each learner and educator;
  • A SARB bursary for each eligible learner;
  • R25 000 for their school; and
  • a collectible ‘25 Years of Constitutional Democracy’ commemorative coin.
