KaBokweni netball player has high hopes for Netball World Cup 2023

KaBokweni-based netball star, Nozipho Khoza, fondly known as ‘Tsunami’ because of her moves in the netball courts, is hoping to represent the national netball team.

Speaking to Lowvelder Express, Khoza opened up about her dream of representing this province on national platform.

“I believe I have given my all at local and provincial level. I am ready for a step higher,” she opened up.
Khoza started playing netball at the age of eight and has never looked back. She has over the years collected many accolades for her athleticism.

She first earned her provincial colours when she was only 12 years old.
In 2009, at the age of 17, she played for the u/19 Lowveld team, representing the province in the Netball South Africa Tournament.
“I was also privileged to represent the province and the City of Mbombela in the Twinning Games which involved Mozambique and the Kingdom of Eswatini. During this competition we managed to be crowned champions and won gold,” she added.

She said she was now focussed on the upcoming 2023 Netball World Cup.
The International Netball Federation (INF) announced in 2019 that South Africa won the rights to host the 16th edition of the Netball World Cup in 2023.
The tournament is set to take place in Cape Town.
“My expectations for 2023 World Cup are to see the SPAR Proteas doing well, but above all, I am hoping to be part of the national team,” she said.
She was recently sidelined from participating in the beautiful game due to a career-threatening injury.
While recovering from her injury, she coached and mentored players from schools in White River and KaBokweni.
“I have also coached Uplands Preparatory School. This year I’ve been working hard to get back to my old form, and I want to hit the ground running again,” she said.
