Unknown men shoot a security guard at Buscor Depot in Masoyi

The suspect(s) stole the victim's service pistol before fleeing the scene.

On Friday night, yet another security officer was shot and killed while on duty.

The police had not made any arrests in connection with the murder of 54-year-old Dennis Malibe from Chochocho.

He was shot by unknown suspect(s) during an armed robbery at a Buscor Depot in Masoyi.

According to Const Naniki Nonyane, spokesperson for Masoyi Police, the security officer was shot while patrolling the depot. His colleague was inside the guardroom at the time of the incident.

“His colleague heard several gunshots at around 00:15 and that was when he called the police,” Nonyane said.

She said Malibe sustained gunshot wounds to the back of his left leg and thighs.

“The unknown suspect(s) apparently gained entry to the depot by crawling under the fence. They stole the victim’s service pistol before fleeing the scene,” she said.

The incident happened nearly a week after another security officer, Amos Fana Ngwenya (57), was shot and killed at Mthayiza Primary School.
“The police have launched a manhunt for the suspects,” she concluded.
