Covid-19 scare at Hazyview Police Station
The police station has opened doors to the public after it was closed down last week.
The station, which services a number of communities within the WhiteHazy and Bushbuckridge areas, was temporarily closed after a member of the SAPS stationed there tested positive for Covid-19.
According to police spokesperson, Brig Leonard Hlathi, the member in question tested positive for Covid-19 last week Monday, which led to the immediate closure of the police station to allow fumigation processes to be done.
“The Community Service Centre (CSC), was temporarily moved to Hazyview Lowveld Mall to where it continued providing daily services to the communities serviced by the police station,” said Hlathi.
As promised, after the building was sealed and disinfected, community members were able to use it again. During Hazyview Herald’s visit to the police station on Saturday, the CSC was fully operational and open to the public again.
“We officially reopened yesterday (Friday) and as you can see we are here to serve our communities,” said a police officer at the CSC.
