Councillor and a resident both injured in a spat at Mganduzweni
Nicholas Nyundu, a resident, and Enos Sebashe, a ward councillor at Ward 9, got into a fight after Nyundu asked Sebashe about the lack of water in the community.
Last week a ward councillor and resident got into a physical altercation after an argument ensued, resulting in both of them being injured.

“A friend and I went to buy water and saw Sebashe. We asked him why there is no water in our area as there are a number of elderly people who cannot walk long distances to get water, nor do they have the money
to buy it.

“He was under the influence of alcohol and started shouting at us that he did not care. We walked away and he got up and stabbed me on my left shoulder,” said Nyundu.
He fled to a nearby clinic where he received medical attention.
“I managed to catch a taxi to Mshadza Clinic where I got an injection to lessen the pain. I was then referred to Themba Hospital where I got stitches,” he said.
Nyundu proceeded to report the matter at Masoyi Police Station.
“A case was opened against him, but a court date has not been set yet,” said Nyundu.
Sebashe denied Nyundu’s version of the story and said he was made to look like the instigator. “They found me having lunch with a friend when they asked why there was no water in the community. I replied and told them that the water trucks were helping out a nearby community and would come to our area soon. They became vexed and hit me on the head with a brick.

“I started bleeding profusely. I ran into my friend’s house and they chased after me. I took a knife from the kitchen counter and stabbed Nyundu so that I could flee.
Luckily, my friend called the neighbours and they came out in numbers, causing Nyundu and his friend to flee.
“I managed to get into my car and drove to Nsikazi Clinic where I was transfered to Matikwane Hospital. I am in a good state now, but my one eye is swollen,” said Sebashe.
He has opened a case against Nyundu. “The police have not yet given me any information regarding the court date.”
The ANC in the region said it will investigate the matter.
