Ambitious photographer from Matsulu captures captivating photographs
Photography is a competitive industry and it is hard to survive without good equipment as it is expensive.
Photographs are significant in everyone’s life. They remind us of our past, help us to remember loved ones, places we have been, feelings and stories.
Mzwakhe Ndubane (23) is an ambitious local photographer who captures captivating photographs that are sure to grab one’s attention.
Ndubane told Lowvelder Express that photography chose him. “I honestly did not choose it, it
chose me.

“Photography is a field where I can express my feelings, beliefs and perspectives while making memories for myself and those who I take photographs of,” he said.
He was influenced by Sibongiseni Khoza to learn more. “I took a gap year after matric in 2016. He took me in as his wingman and showed me all the basics of photography and how the industry operates.
“He made me see things differently through the lens, helped me to develop a creative mindset, to be a visionary, unique and create my own mark. He guided me through all the necessary steps one should take and provided me with basic information”.
Ndubane said independence prompted him to start his own business. “I am currently studying IT software development at Rosebank College. Being away from home prompted me to be independent and start making my mark. I started my own business called Shvtterbvg Muzzie. The aim of it is to offer professionalism in the industry, to grow and one day mentor future photographers who might not have equipment to begin their journey,”
he said.

His journey has not been plain sailing.
“Photography is a competitive industry and it is hard to survive without good equipment as it is expensive. Financial problems are my biggest issue. I had to make sacrifices and save a lot, change my lifestyle and start engaging with a lot more people to create clientele,” he said
Ndubane’s business is booming as he has partnered with Vutshilo Sikhwivilu, who owns a decor enterprise.
“Her company, Mukoni Events, opened doors for more clients as I always capture her work for promotional purposes. When people hire her, they immediately want me to be their photographer as well.”
Ndubane told Lowvelder Express that his favourite part about being a photographer is post-production. “That is where I have to edit the content, manipulate it in my own style.”
He keeps up with the latest trends by watching YouTube. “I follow a lot of national and international YouTube photographers to keep up with the latest news regarding new and innovative equipment and put it to practise.”
