The Rotary Club of White River appoints new president
The baton was handed over figuratively to Joan Schormann-van Zyl as the new president of the Rotary Club of White River.
WHITE RIVER – Amid the chaos of the world, life in some spheres goes on as normal.
Every year, Rotary clubs throughout the world change leadership of clubs, districts and Rotary International. The White River branch is no different.
The handing over of the chain of office is usually a black-tie affair and everyone enjoys the opportunity of dressing up.
For obvious reasons, this was not possible this year but past-president, Albie van de Venter, passed the baton figuratively and Joan Schormann-van Zyl took over the running of the club.

Face-to-face meetings are no longer possible, but virtual meetings have enabled everyone to get together and enjoy fellowship, albeit not in person.
Regular meetings are still held via Zoom and the club continues to meet needs in the community.
With Covid-19 having a huge impact on the economy, many people face a severe shortage of food and the Rotary Club of White River has been involved in collecting food hampers and distributing them to those in dire straits.
