SDM’s new leadership paves the way forward
According to SDM communications officer Moloko Moloto, Ntshudisane was appointed with effect from September 1, for a period not more than one year after the next local government elections.
SEKHUKHUNE – The Sekhukhune District Municipality (SDM) council made new appointments in managerial positions on Monday.
Among those who were appointed was Maureen Ntshudisane. She is the new municipal manager (MM). The position became vacant after acting worth MM, Mpho Mofokeng, was suspended after allegedly irregularly awarding tenders worth R26 million to eight companies for the Covid-19 emergency intervention projects in April.
According to SDM communications officer Moloko Moloto, Ntshudisane was appointed with effect from September 1, for a period not more than one year after the next local government elections.
Ntshudisane holds a master’s degree in development planning from the University of Witwatersrand and has 15 years’ work experience in local government, 10 of which were in senior management.
She previously was a chief operations officer and a municipal manager. The council also resolved to appoint Maselaganye Matji as director: infrastructure and water services with effect from September 1, for a period not more than one year after the next local government elections.
Matji holds a master of science in civil engineering from Stellenbosch University and a master of business leadership from the University of South Africa. He has 27 years’ experience in the infrastructure sector, with a special focus on water and transport services.
The executive mayor, Keamotseng Stanley Ramaila, wished the newly appointed officials all the best as they take up their new responsibilities.
“We are confident that with their experience and knowledge of the local government, they’ll play a vital role in helping the council to fast-track service delivery.
“Their appointments bring much-needed stability at the senior management level and it augers well with government’s concerted efforts to build a capable, ethical and developmental state as per priority 1 of the medium term strategic framework 2019-2024,” added Ramaila.
