They have been living in a rented room near Extension 2 for the past 24 years. After two decades of waiting for a house, Martinus finally has one. It was a bitter-sweet moment when he was handed the keys to his new home.
“I am so overwhelmed; I thought I will never have my own place to stay and now this. I will take care of it for the rest of my life. Thanks so much to the department of Human Settlement and community leader George Viljoen, who assisted me with all relevant documentation when I applied for the house,” Martinus said.
