Golden win Top-16 tournament

Golden FC’s fierce attack saw them clinch the Ga Makofane Top-16 soccer tournament on Sunday.
The tourney was hosted at Blue Birds’ sports grounds. It started on Heritage Day. Sixteen local teams participated.

The final was the battle of the locals as Golden locked horns with rookies Lockdown FC.

Golden were clinical in front of the goals. winning the encounter 3-1. Lockdown FC, a recently formed team, controlled the early proceedings of the match, but did not create clear-cut chances.  Golden were leading 2-0 at half-time.

The tournament included teams from Ga Motshana, Makofane, Mabotsha, Shakung and Sekopung.

Othello Makofane of Lockdown said they will regroup to ensure they succeed in their next games.

“The boys played well, but luck was not on our side. It’s football, you win some and lose others.”
Golden’s midfielder, Comfort Magale thanked the fans for their support and dedicated the win to the people of Sefateng.
