BURGERSFORT – Gogo Sabina Mosebu Matlakala recently celebrated her 100th birthday at Kgopaneng Village. She was born on September 1, 1920.
The energetic and vibrant granny is a mother of nine children, and has 27 grandchildren and 98 greatgrandchildren.

The gogo says she has seen it all in her life. “I lived during the apartheid years and I also saw the dawn of freedom. I am just grateful that God has given me a gift of life. I have lost many loved ones, including my husband, but God has kept me fit and healthy.”

“My favourite foods has always been mabele pap and spinach. I also enjoy eating fruits and veggies as well as inkomazi.” Matlakala said she is still going strong and can still cook, clean, fetch wood and make her bed every morning.
“I am very happy that God has blessed me and I have lived to reach 100 years without experiencing any health problems,” she said. Her family said they always go to her for advice.
