SAPS officer among 16 arrested suspects
Mojapelo said the arrested suspects, including the man in blue, will soon appear in various magistrate's courts in the Sekhukhune area.
SEKHUKHUNE – A police officer was among 16 suspects who were arrested by the Limpopo SAPS last week. The suspects were apprehended during a sting operation by the Limpopo Highway Patrol Team (LHPT). They were nabbed for possession of drugs and dagga, and also for dealing in illicit cigarettes. The suspects are aged between 25 and 41. “We have arrested one of our colleagues. A 36-year-old constable stationed at Apel Police Station in the SAPS Sekhukhune District was apprehended during the stop-and-search operation after he was found in possession of drugs in the Ga-Masemola policing area in the same district.
“During the arrest, the SAPS confiscated 20 sachets of drugs (nyaope) loaded in his motor vehicle. Three rounds of ammunition and a firearm were also seized from him,” revealed Limpopo police spokesperson, Brig Motlafelo Mojapelo.
Meanwhile at Hlogotlou, the SAPS also received information about a suspect who was dealing in drugs. “They reacted swiftly and rushed to the suspect’s house in Monsterlos Unit A.
On arrival, the house was searched and police found 1 000 brown small plastics containing nyaope and 170 sachets of crystal meth.
“Subsequently, a 25-year-old suspect was apprehended for possession of and dealing in drugs. “In a separate incident, still in the same area, two suspects, aged 28 and 35, were arrested at Monsterlos RDP Section for possession of dagga, obstructing the SAPS in doing their work and defeating the ends of justice.
The police confiscated 65 sachets of dagga.

The provincial commissioner, Lt Gen Nneke Ledwaba, complimented LHPT members for their relentless efforts in the fight against drugs and illicit cigarettes across Limpopo.
