Accident claims the lives of 3 people

Limpopo SAPS confirmed that cases of culpable homicide had been opened at Apel SAPS.

APEL – Three men died and one sustained minor injuries after a Toyota Avanza overturned on Saturday.

The incident occurred between Apel Cross and Mogwabe Road at about 06:00. According to eyewitnesses, the driver of the Avanza allegedly lost control over his vehicle and it rolled several times.

The light motor vehicle was travelling to Ga Masemola Village. According to the emergency medical service team on the scene, they had found four people trapped inside the Avanza

“We managed to remove all four of them. Unfortunately, three died on the scene. One passenger survived with minor injuries and was rushed to the local hospital,” said a paramedic, who was not authorised to speak to the press. Limpopo SAPS confirmed that cases of culpable homicide had been opened at Apel SAPS.
The police said investigations into the cause of the accident and the processes of identifying the deceased were still unfolding.

The department of transport and community safety said the preliminary investigations suggest speeding and reckless driving as the possible causes.

The transport and community safety MEC, Mavhungu Lerule-Ramakhanya, urged motorists to drive with caution and to observe the rules of the road.
