Save festive season the goal in Ohrigstad

The Ohrigstad SAPS is committed to interact with stakeholders and community members to ensure their safety over the Festive Season. 

With the festive season only a few weeks away – the local police were proactive on Thursday November 5.

Sgt. Kholofelo Phokane, rural safety coordinator, and WO Morara Mapulane, Vispol Commander, conducted a rural safety awareness campaign.

The team was joined by the community policing forum. The group started off by visiting the pension pay point at the Ohrigstad Post office where they addressed the community members about gender-based violence, safety at ATM’s, safety when travelling and card fraud.   The team joined by the Community Policing Forum, Youth Against Crime, Young Civilians on Patrol and Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design members.

From there the team visited local stores to promote safety. They also put up Firearm Amnesty posters. A total of 98 Festive Season safety pamphlets were distributed during the campaign. Festive season safety pamphlets were distributed.
