According to the department, Tonga Hospital is the only health facility that was reported to have had power failure due to heavy rain.

The Mpumalanga Department of Health said Tropical Storm Eloise had no major negative impact on operations in the province. According to the department, Tonga Hospital is the only health facility that was reported to have had power failure due to heavy rain.
According to a source, it was affected due to cables that are connected to Tonga Mall.
“The mall did not have power for hours and they were using generators. This is due to the heavy rain that occurred on Monday night. The mall and hospital use the same line, hence the two did not have power,” she said. The spokesperson for the provincial Department of Health, Dumisani Malamule, confirmed that the hospital had been affected on Tuesday.
“Tonga Hospital was affected for less than two hours until power was restored. When it was off they had a generator supplying power,” he said.
