Customer fills up tank, Caltex fills up his garage

Everyone dreams of winning a car. But for Noel Sambo of Lydenburg this dream came true when he was informed about the life-changing present that awaited him at Caltex Panorama.

Sambo, an Eskom employee, kept it a secret from his wife for about a week and asked her to meet him at Caltex Panorama, VW Highlands, for a surprise. Arnold le Roux, director of Caltex Mpumalanga, handed over the car on Thursday January 29 at Caltex Panorama.
“The win-a-car summer promotion is Caltex’s way of giving something back to the community, thanking our loyal customers and sending out a positive message after a difficult year during the Covid-19 pandemic,” said Greg Moldenhauer, general manager of Caltex Mpumalanga.
Customers were able to enter the competition by filling up at a Caltex for R250 or more. In addition to the Volkswagen Polo 1.0TSI that was up for grabs, five fuel vouchers were also given away each day. The results were verified by independent agency Known Associates and customers could enter more than once.
This was a national competition and the 12 car winners all received their new Volkswagen Polo 1.0TSI by the end of January.
“I was driving an old VW Golf ‘jalopy’. I could never have imagined that this would happen to me. I want to thank Caltex for giving me the biggest gift a person can hope for,” said Sambo.
